The Submariner Movements. The models are all powered by the Calibre 3235 . Watch: GMT's. Posts: 43,440. There is no wrong choice, however, the Sub is the original and stayed true to it's looks/function for the longest time of any model. The Sub Date is fine, but it doesn't have that clean look of an original Sub. MSub8.JPG.

I own the Sub and the Bluesy (which has the date). I recently wore the Sub exclusively on a one week vacation and frankly the lack of a date for a week annoyed me. At home, I would just rotate to another watch. It’s occurred to me to trade my Sub for a Sub Date, but that seems like a hassle since I have several Rolexes with the date.

Posts: 985. Both great classic options, can’t go wrong. I’ve had a 14060M and an 114060 in the past. I put my name down for a new 12xxxx Sub and said I had no preference between Date or no-date, got the call for a 126610. It’s not my first Rolex with a date but it is my first Sub with a date.

The date version is the Sub imagined by the vast majority when they hear the word, hence it makes much more sense to say Sub and no date Sub.

Prior to, most people had two realistic options - Explorer and sub (one look and model) as the Daytona was relatively expensive and unavailable. I think people are now more accepting of no-date models. Thanks!
