The solid end links on the Oyster bracelet radically change the feel of your 16570. They really make the watch feel much more modern and less rattly. At the same time, being male end links, they do add to the overall length of the watch. Best of both worlds = lug holes and solid end links. Prior to this I had used several bracelets. Sub 93150 with 580 end links, a Jubilee off a DJ, 78360 from a GMT, 78790 with 501B end links.
The answer is NO, the 16570 never came from the factory with a solid center link bracelet all througout. During the later years of production (2000-2011) all Explorer II 16570 models came from the factory with the 78790A Oyster bracelet. This is an A-serial number 16570 with solid endlinks and drilled lugs. Note the “SWISS” only on the bottom of the dial. Image: Bob’s Watches. The bracelet also changed during this third iteration to include the flip-lock clasp. I wanted a black dial, none drilled case/solid endlink 16570 but did not want the engraved rehaut. That narrowed my search down to ~ 2003-2006 year examples. I suggest doing the same and seeing which iteration meets your needs. Below is a pretty helpful chart from a Fratello article on the 16570. The bracelet from my Omega 2255.50 SeaMaster Professional fits reasonably well and is an 'upgrade' in the sense of solid end links and much sturdier clasp. The curve at the case lugs and end links are slightly out but it'll do until the Oyster bracelet returns serviceable:
The one place where the 16570 shows its age is the bracelet. Or, more kindly worded, it is where you can see the greatest development since. My 2004 example comes with solid end links, which go a long way in making it feel substantial and contemporary. However, the center links are still hollow.
In 2000, they advanced to solid end links (SEL), which were integrated into the rest of the bracelet. This provided a much more solid fit of the band to the watch. And lastly, towards the very end of the ref. 16570’s run, Rolex phased out .
