I'm having some trouble getting a solid opinion on the P.5000 in-house movement and how it compares to the older ETA models (reliability, robustness, and maintenance). I currently own a PAM356 and am looking to buy another model (w/8 day reserve) and I'm not sure how the P.5000 8-day holds up. I owned two previous Panerai with P5000s (564 and 609) and had to sell both because they were running up to 3-4mins fast after the first two days. My Panerai with the P3000 movement (3 day handwound) all ran according to spec without any issues. I now avoid anything with the P5000. Check out the PAM 560 on panerai.com and then see what Ben Clymer had to say about the very first watch to use the P.5000, right here. Panerai. This is the most stripped-down watch in Panerai’s current collection and it also represents the entry level price into the world of Panerai in-house movements, in this case the P.5000.

A power reserve of eight days and hand-wound: the P.5000 calibre combines these two characteristics which are part of the history of Panerai watches since th.
